Firemen’s parade steps off Saturday night
New Geneva Fire Chief Del Parotta told the Finger Lakes Times the annual Geneva Firemen’s parade begins Saturday at 7 p.m. Many downtown streets will be closed during the parade, which is expected to attract about 50 marching units and bands. Downtown parking will also be limited until after the parade.

IRONMAN expected to bring 2,500 to the city Sunday
Sunday, the IRONMAN 70.3 Musselman triathlon begins at 6 a.m. and is expected to finish at about 4 p.m. As many as 2,500 athletes, friends, and spectators are expected to be on hand. Traffic on South Main St. will be delayed, sometimes heavily, from 9-4. Parotta says it’s best to stay away from South Main Sunday if you can.
Of course, traffic flow is already limited due to the conversion of Routes 5 & 20 along the Seneca Lakefront to one lane in each direction. The work is part of the city’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative project.
