Rochester Red Wings bullpen blows three-run lead in loss to Lehigh Valley

The Rochester Red Wings held a three-run lead going into the bottom of the ninth inning but were unable to hold on as Lehigh Valley walked it off to secure a 6-5 victory on Friday night at Coca-Cola Park. The six-game series is now even at two games apiece.

Veteran pitcher Aníbal Sánchez made his third rehab start with Rochester and surrendered two runs (one earned) over 5 1/3 innings.

Lehigh Valley jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third inning as Dalton Guthrie ripped an RBI single to left.

Adrian Sanchez put the Red Wings on the board in the fourth and gave them the lead with a two-run double to left. One batter later, Josh Palacios grounded one through the right side for a run-scoring single.

Guthrie collected his second RBI of the night in the fifth with an RBI ground-rule double to cut Rochester’s lead to 3-2.
