Hochul announces $139 million investment to grow Corning Inc.’s operations in Fairport and Gates

Governor Kathy Hochul announced today a $139 million investment to expand Corning  Incorporated’s operations in Monroe County.

Over 270 new jobs are expected to be created at the company’s Village of Fairport location.

The investment will also “equip a new Laser Optics production facility at Jetview Drive in the Town of Gates,” according to a release.

Corning, Inc. is an international technology company based out of Corning, Steuben County specializing in glass, ceramics and related materials.

Fairport location’s administrative and manufacturing facilities will be expanded, said the governor. A Development and Engineering Center of Excellence will also be established nearby.

“I am proud to support the company’s investments in Monroe County as we demonstrate New York’s continued commitment to fostering the growth of innovative businesses that will move our communities forward and further cement New York as the national hub for semiconductor manufacturing,” said Hochul during a press conference on Friday, July 8.

The targeted completion dates for expansion at the Gates and Fairport facilities are 2023 and 2024, respectively.


Governor Hochul will also speak at Corning Inc.’s Innovation Support Center in Big Flats on Friday.
