Geneva woman faces felony charge even though business doesn’t prosecute larceny

On Tuesday police responded to a business on Wadsworth Street for a larceny-in-progress complaint.

Upon arrival it was learned that Shanell Eldridge, 32, of Geneva entered the business, knocked over a display, stole items, then fled on foot.

When officers attempted to engage with her- she screamed and yelled obscenities at them. Officers attempted to calm her down, but she continued to act in a disorderly manner, according to a news release.

She fought with officers as they took her into custody- biting one of them.

She was taken into custody, but the business opted against prosecuting. The officer was treated at the hospital and released.

Eldridge was charged with disorderly conduct and assault as a felony.
