The New York Mets made a couple of roster moves before Wednesday’s series finale against the Cincinnati Reds.
The team reinstated left-hander David Peterson from the paternity list and optioned right-hander R.J. Alvarez to Triple-A Syracuse to make room on the 26-man roster.
Peterson will start Wednesday’s game after spending three days on the paternity list. He last pitched on July 1 against the Texas Rangers. The 26-year-old owns a 3.24 ERA over 58 1/3 innings this season.
Alvarez was added to the roster on July 1 but did not appear in a game for New York. The 31-year-old has a 2.49 ERA over 25 1/3 innings at Triple-A this season.
