The Rochester Red Wings opened a six-game series with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Monday night at Coca-Cola Park and fell 5-1.
Rochester jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning as Jake Noll ripped an RBI single into center field, but after that, it was all Lehigh Valley.
The IronPigs tied the game in the third on Dalton Guthrie’s run-scoring single.
Daniel Robertson put Lehigh Valley on top in the sixth with a bases-clearing double, making it 4-1. Ali Castillo followed that with an RBI single to cap off the scoring.
The Red Wings finished 1-for-4 with runners in scoring position and left three runners on base.
Carson Teel started on the bump for Rochester and surrendered a run over four innings. Jefry Rodriguez was the first one out of the bullpen and he allowed four runs over three innings. Patrick Murphy held Lehigh Valley scoreless in the eighth.
The Red Wings will get the day off on Tuesday before they return to action on Wednesday night for the second game of this week-long series against the IronPigs. The first pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
