Syracuse Mets win streak snapped with loss to Lehigh Valley

The Syracuse Mets had their three-game win streak snapped on Friday night with a 7-5 loss to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs at NBT Bank Stadium. Despite the loss, Syracuse still leads the six-game series 3-1.

Tim Adleman started on the bump for the Mets and surrendered three runs (one earned) over five innings. Yoan López struggled in relief as he allowed three runs over 1 1/3 innings. Bryce Montes de Oca also allowed a run and Rob Zastryzny tossed a scoreless inning.

Mark Vientos and Gosuke Katoh each smacked two-run home runs to lead the Syracuse offense. Nick Dini drove in the other run with an RBI single.

The game was tied 5-5 after six innings, but a double steal of home in the seventh ended up being the difference in the game. Lehigh Valley also added a run in the eighth on a wild pitch to push the lead to 7-5.

The Mets will try to bounce back on Saturday night with Thomas Szapucki on the mound. The first pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m.
