The New York Mets made a few roster moves before Tuesday’s series opener against the Houston Astros.
The team selected veteran outfielder Ender Inciarte to the active roster from Triple-A. To make room for him on the roster, the Mets optioned outfielder Nick Plummer to Triple-A Syracuse and designated reliever Locke St. John for assignment.
Inciarte earns his way to the majors for the first time this season. The 31-year-old signed a minor league deal with the New York Yankees during spring training but was released a few weeks before joining the Mets on a minor league deal.
St. John loses his roster spot six weeks after being claimed off waivers from the Chicago Cubs.
