The New York Yankees will be getting one of their important relievers back very soon.
Manager Aaron Boone told reporters Saturday morning that Chapman will make one more rehab appearance on Sunday with the Somerset Patriots, the Yankees Double-A affiliate. If that goes well, he will be reinstated from the injured list.
Chapman tossed a scoreless inning in his first rehab outing on Friday night with Somerset. The left-hander threw just eight pitches and recorded a strikeout.
The 34-year-old has been working his way back from left Achilles tendinitis. He last pitched for New York on May 22.
The veteran pitcher has posted a 3.86 ERA over 14 innings this season.
