The New York Yankees will be getting one of their important relievers back very soon.
FRESH TAKES: 2026 NFL Preview (podcast) Manager Aaron Boone told reporters Saturday morning that Chapman will make one more rehab appearance on Sunday with the Somerset Patriots, the Yankees Double-A affiliate. If that goes well, he will be reinstated from the injured list.
Chapman tossed a scoreless inning in his first rehab outing on Friday night with Somerset. The left-hander threw just eight pitches and recorded a strikeout.
The 34-year-old has been working his way back from left Achilles tendinitis. He last pitched for New York on May 22.
The veteran pitcher has posted a 3.86 ERA over 14 innings this season.
