State police say a woman was killed in a crash around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Payne and Shortsville roads in Farmington.
At this point in the investigation, troopers say the woman, who was not identified, ran a stop sign at the intersection and crossed into the path of a pickup truck pulling a trailer.
State police say the woman, who was operating a van, died at the scene.
Three people were inside the pickup truck at the time of the crash and were treated at area hospitals for minor injuries.

At this point, troopers say the biggest part of the investigation is working to understand why the driver failed to stop.
“It’s always tough,” Public Information Officer Sgt. Mark O’Donnell told 13WHAM-TV. “For the fire department, as well as the troopers that responded. It never gets easier. And they do the best they can but they want to make sure we do a proper job for the families and let them know that their loved ones were cared for.”
No identifying information had been released as of Friday morning. Another update was expected as the investigation continued.
