A pilot is in the hospital after a crash in a field in Canandaigua on Tuesday.
It happened around 2 p.m., according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, who said the pilot was able to eject himself before the single-engine plane came to rest.
The crash happened off Yerkes Road, about a quarter mile west of Brickyard Road.
The pilot, who was not identified by authorities, was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The pilot is a Monroe County resident who frequently flies out of the Canandaigua Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating with the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
