Bexar County, Texas residents could see up to $65,000 in stimulus aid if they’re behind on their mortgage payments.
This is available through the Texas Homeowner Assistance Fund program, or TXHAF.
The payments help qualifying residents who are struggling to pay their mortgage and other home expenses due to the pandemic.
Stimulus aid for owed mortgage payments worth up to $65,000
Aid given will be in the form of grants.
These grants can be used to pay for back mortgage payments, property taxes, insurance, and HOA fees.
The maximum available assistance for people behind on their mortgages in $40,000 per household.
If the same resident is behind on property taxes or insurance, or HOA or condo fees, they may see an additional $25,000 per household.
Stimulus payments of $500 going to thousands of Massachusetts workers
15,000 households in the county will qualify.
The grants do not need to be repaid.
How to qualify for the mortgage stimulus aid
You must own and live in a house in the state of Texas as your primary residents.
You must show you suffered financial hardship from the pandemic on or after Jan. 21, 2020.
Finally, your household income needs to be at or below 100% of the AMI or 100% of the median income for the U.S., whichever is greater.
You need to show you have fallen behind on one or more of the following
- Mortgage payments
- Property taxes
- Property insurance
- HOA fees
- Condo association fees
