New board member interested in leading for Auburn Enlarged City School District

A new board member on the Auburn Enlarged City School District Board of Education is interested in leading.

Current President Ian Phillips, as well as Danielle Wood both expressed interested in the president and vice presidency.

The Citizen reports that Superintendent Jeff Pirozzolo asked what members were interested in leadership posts for the 2022-23 year.

While Phillips currently serves as president, Dr. Eli Hernandez currently serves as Vice President.

Hernandez voiced support for Wood in the leadership role.

“I was interested previously in running for a leadership role on the board. After completing my first term, I have gained a lot of knowledge, and am eager to continue to keep learning. For the last three years, I’ve been committed to working hard by attending our regular meetings, committee meetings, and anything I am able to district-wide. I care a lot about our community and truly enjoy my seat on our board, and would work hard to support our students and staff as Vice President,” Wood told The Citizen of the decision to seek the position.

An official vote for leadership posts will take place Thursday, July 7.
