The Rochester Red Wings were once again unable to snap their losing skid as they fell to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, 10-6, on Wednesday night at PNC Field. Rochester has now lost eight consecutive games and has fallen out of first place in the International League East Division for the first time since May 7.
Veteran infielder Alcides Escobar made his first rehab appearance with the Red Wings and homered in his first at-bat. Joey Meneses and Jake Noll also went deep as they hit back-to-back home runs. Adrian Sanchez had a two-run double, and Taylor Gushue had a run-scoring single.
Meneses collected three hits, while Gushue and Sanchez each had two.
Left-hander Logan Verrett started on the mound and surrendered six runs (five earned) over 5 1/3 innings while walking one and striking out six. Alberto Baldonado allowed three unearned runs in relief, and Sam Clay allowed one.
Rochester will try to snap the losing skid on Thursday with Cade Cavalli on the bump. The first pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m.
