New Yorkers may see a boost to their SNAP benefit.
But, when will they see the boosted benefits?
Who will see the boost?
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or Food Stamp program, provides low income families and individuals with benefits that can be used to purchase healthy foods. The benefits are loaded onto your electronic-benefit transfer (EBT) card, which can be used just like a debit card.
The most recent benefit boost will go to New Yorkers, and it should be available by June 17. $234 million in federal funding will go into bolstering the program and allowing the maximum benefit– $835 for a household of four.
Many households still “grapple with food insecurity” and this benefit increase will make an impactful difference.
