An Ohio man died over the weekend while scuba diving in the depths of Lake Erie.
The Erie County Coroner identified the man as Tyler Cullinan, 31, of Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
Diver explored shipwreck, signaled distress before falling unconscious
Cullinan was reportedly part of a group that departed from Barcelona, New York on Saturday, June 11.
The divers were exploring a shipwreck at a depth of 190 feet roughly 15 miles offshore, according to WJET.
Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook said Cullinan signaled he was in distress to other divers before becoming unconscious. Cullinan was brought to shore by a Border Patrol boat and was pronounced dead at UPMC Hamot.
The death was ruled accidental. The cause of death was still pending as of Monday, June 14.
