Rochester Red Wings unable to avoid sweep with 5-1 loss to St. Paul

The Rochester Red Wings were unable to avoid the six-game sweep as they fell to the St. Paul Saints, 5-1, on Sunday afternoon at CHS Field.

Joan Adon started on the mound for Rochester and surrendered three runs on four hits over two innings while walking three and striking out five. Jace Fry allowed a pair of runs in relief, while Jefry Rodriguez, Patrick Murphy, Tyler Clippard, and Reed Garrett had scoreless outings.


The Red Wings’ lone run came in the fifth inning on Andrew Stevenson’s RBI groundout. Lucius Fox had two of the team’s six hits. Joey Meneses, Jake Noll, Taylor Gushue, and Matt Lipka also collected hits. Rochester finished 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left six on base.

Rochester will get the day off on Monday before they begin a six-game series with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Tuesday at PNC Field. The first pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m.
