Williamson man accidentally discharged illegally owned handgun, striking unoccupied vehicle in Lyons

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Williamson man following an investigation into shots fired.

On May 22 deputies responded to a residence on Ashley Street in Lyons for a reported bullet hole in a parked vehicle.

An investigation into the incident resulted in the arrest of Kelvin Roberson, 22, of Williamson.

He was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon, and criminal mischief.

He accidentally discharged a handgun, which he illegally possessed, deputies said. The bullet from the handgun exited his vehicle and struck an unoccupied vehicle parked in front of a residence.

Roberson was taken into custody and will answer the charges at a later date.
