Syracuse Mets fall short at Worcester

The Syracuse Mets battled back from a 6-1 deficit and eventually tied the game before the Worcester Red Sox walked it off, 8-7, on Saturday afternoon at Polar Park.

Dominic Smith crushed a game-tying home run in the top of the ninth before Roberto Ramos smacked a walk-off double in the bottom of the frame to give Worcester the victory.

Travis Blankenhorn collected two RBIs, while Daniel Palka, JT Riddle, Nick Meyer, and Cody Bohanek also drove in runs. Khalil Lee, Smith, Palka, and Meyer each had two-hit games.

Nate Fisher started on the mound for the Mets and surrendered three runs over two innings. The bullpen struggled as Yoan López and Bryce Montes de Oca each allowed two runs, while Jose Rodriguez allowed one. Tommy Hunter tossed two shutout innings.

The two teams will wrap up the six-game series on Sunday afternoon. The first pitch is slated for 1:05 p.m.
