The New York Yankees made a couple of roster moves before Friday’s series opener against the Detroit Tigers at Yankee Stadium.
The team reinstated third baseman Josh Donaldson from the 10-day injured list. To make room for him on the 26-man roster, reliever David McKay was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Donaldson has not played since May 22 due to right shoulder inflammation. He also spent a few days on MLB’s COVID-19 list but did not test positive.
With Donaldson back, DJ LeMahieu will shift around the infield.
Donaldson is in Friday’s lineup, batting cleanup and playing third base.
