New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge was named American League Player of the Month, Major League Baseball announced Friday.
Judge, who’s leading the Major Leagues with 19 home runs this season, crushed 12 of those homers in May, tied with Mookie Betts for the most of any player. He batted .311 with a 1.077 OPS that was second-best in the AL, and his 25 RBIs also ranked second in the AL.
Behind Judge, the Yankees are in first place in the AL East and have the best record in baseball at 36-15.
Judge has now won the award three times in his career. Before Judge, the Yankees’ most recent winner was DJ LeMahieu in 2019.
