The Syracuse Mets snapped a six-game skid on Thursday night with an 8-4 victory over the Worcester Red Sox at Polar Park.
Syracuse scored six of their eight runs in the second inning and then held on for the victory.
Daniel Palka and Cody Bohanek each drove in a pair of runs, while Jake Mangum, Mark Vientos, and Nick Meyer had RBIs. Palka collected three of the team’s 10 hits. Seven of the nine batters in the starting lineup had at least a hit.
Félix Peña started on the mound for the Mets and allowed two unearned runs over 5.2 innings. Trey Cobb also allowed two unearned runs in relief, while Alex Claudio and Eric Orze had scoreless outings.
The two teams will continue the six-game series on Friday at 6:45 p.m.
