Palmyra-Macedon baseball advances to regionals with win over Haverling

The Palmyra-Macedon Red Raiders squared off with the Haverling Rams in the Class B regional qualifier on Thursday evening at Livonia High School. The Red Raiders came out victorious by a score of 7-0.

Ian Goodness started on the bump for Palmyra-Macedon and tossed seven shutout innings while striking out nine. The right-hander just kept pounding the strike zone as he threw 81 pitches and did not walk a single batter.

The Red Raiders jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning on a pair of RBI groundouts by Chris Finocchario Jr. and Christian Morrison.


Palmyra-Macedon plated five runs in the fifth to extend their lead to 7-0. Paul Goodness lifted a sacrifice fly to center to start the big inning. Alex Wooton followed that with an RBI single to right. One batter later, Ian Goodness hammered one off the fence in right-center for a two-run double. Morrison capped off the scoring with an RBI single to left.

AJ Brotz suffered the loss for Haverling as he allowed all seven runs over six innings. He also collected two of the team’s three hits.

Palmyra-Macedon advances to the Far West Regional on Saturday.
