Pennsylvania state governor continues to support $2,000 stimulus proposal

On Wednesday, June 1, 2022, Pittsburgh welcomed Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf, who discussed his stimulus proposal.

The stimulus payments he’s supporting are worth $2,000 and would be funded with American Rescue Act funds.

The entire proposal is worth $1.7 billion dollars, and the state has $2 billion, according to Wolf.

This money needs to be committed to funding something or the state risks losing it.

Any money that has not been allocated by Dec. 31, 2024, will need to be returned.

The stimulus program is called the PA Opportunity Program and would cost $500 million of the $1.7 billion.

Residents making $80,000 or less would see the $2,000 payments.

The goal is to help families struggling amid inflation following any issues they had during the pandemic.
