Palmyra-Macedon baseball claims Section V Class B1 title

Batavia jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Cole Grazioplene’s solo home run to left-center field, but after that, it was all Palmyra-Macedon.

Ian Goodness provided most of the offense for the Red Raiders, driving in five runs on a two-run single and a bases-clearing double. Alex Wooton brought home the sixth run with an RBI single. Christopher Finocchario Jr. toed the slab and was outstanding. The right-hander tossed seven innings of one-run ball while striking out 11. After giving up the solo homer in the first, Finocchario settled in and just kept pounding the strike zone.

Jesse Reinhart took the loss for the Blue Devils after allowing six runs (five earned) over 3 2/3 innings. Batavia just couldn’t get much going offensively as they had just five total hits.

Palmyra-Macedon will take on Bath-Haverling, who are the Class B2 champs, on Wednesday night to see who moves on to the Far West Regional.
