Police in Canandaigua say a local 20-year-old has been arrested in connection with a murder investigation in South Carolina.
Michael Lloyd, 20, of Canandaigua was taken into custody as a fugitive from justice on Monday around 1:26 p.m.
According to a news release from CPD, Lloyd has an active warrant out of South Carolina for first-degree murder following the death of a 6-year-old on May 13 in Orangeburg County.
Lloyd was located at a home on Saltonstall Street and taken into custody without incident.
He was transported to the Ontario County Jail to await extradition.
According to police, Lloyd’s capture was a collaborative effort by members of CPD, Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, and U.S. Marshalls.
