Palmyra woman arrested for welfare fraud

A Palmyra woman was arrested after investigation into a fraud complaint.

According to a news release, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Ashley M. Compton, 31, of Palmyra for petit larceny and welfare fraud.


The charges stem from an investigation into a fraud complaint and it is alleged that Compton did not report income that she was receiving from child support. As a result, Compton received a total of $865.05 in benefits that she was not entitled to.

Compton was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in Town of Lyons Court at a later date.
