Penn Yan man makes false written statement

A Penn Yan man was arrested following an incident that occurred in the village.

According to a news release, the Penn Yan Police Department arrested Franklin B. Clark, 35, of Penn Yan for making a punishable false written statement.


Officers were dispatched to Clark’s residence for the report of harassment. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Clark who advised officers that he was pushed to the ground and spit on by an individual. He provided officers with a signed written statement regarding the incident. Further investigation into the matter revealed that the incident never took place and what Clark told the officers was false. 

Clark is due to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date to answer charges.
