Cornell led 3-1 after the first quarter and 8-3 at the half before pulling away in the second half to secure the victory.
John Piatelli led Cornell with six points on five goals and one assist, while Michael Long netted four goals and finished with a five-point game. Hugh Kelleher and Billy Coyle notched hat tricks, and goalkeeper Chayse Irelan made 15 saves.
Ryan Gallagher and Ross Scott led Rutgers with three points each, while goalkeeper Colin Kirst made 13 saves.
