The No. 2 seeded Waterloo Indians and the top-seeded Batavia Blue Devils faced off in the Class B1 Section V Softball Championship on Saturday morning at Webster Schroeder High School. The Indians came out victorious by a score of 6-4 and claimed their second sectional title in three seasons.

Mikayla Jensen made the start for Waterloo and allowed three earned runs on eight hits over five innings while striking out six and walking one. Nadia Clingerman earned the win in relief for the Indians and was named Section V Class B1 tournament MVP. Gianna Mruczek went the distance for Batavia and surrendered five earned runs.
Waterloo scored six runs on 11 hits and one error, while Batavia scored four runs on nine hits and two errors.
Maddie Westerberg went 3-for-4 with a home run to lead the Indians. Logan Amidon went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, while Kennedy Beniamino and Clingermand had two-hit games.
Batavia was led by Hannah Carney, who went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored.
Waterloo will face Wellsville on Tuesday to determine the overall Section V B champion, who then goes to the Far West regionals.
