Jameson Taillon’s dominant pitching performance leads Yankees past Rays

The New York Yankees blanked the Tampa Bay Rays, 2-0, on Friday night at Tropicana Field.

Jameson Taillon got the start for New York and was outstanding. The right-hander tossed eight shutout innings and allowed just two hits while striking out five. Clay Holmes picked up the save with a 1-2-3 ninth.

The only runs of the game came in the fourth when Gleyber Torres and Matt Carpenter each homered.

Miguel Andújar, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Joey Gallo, and Kyle Higashioka each collected a hit.

The Yankees go for the series win on Saturday with Gerrit Cole on the bump. The first pitch is slated for 4:10 p.m.
