The New York Yankees blanked the Tampa Bay Rays, 2-0, on Friday night at Tropicana Field.
Jameson Taillon got the start for New York and was outstanding. The right-hander tossed eight shutout innings and allowed just two hits while striking out five. Clay Holmes picked up the save with a 1-2-3 ninth.
The only runs of the game came in the fourth when Gleyber Torres and Matt Carpenter each homered.
