New York State Police say a 17-year-old was taken into custody after an incident on Wednesday.
According to a news release, state police were notified around 12:30 p.m. by local police of a social media post by a 17-year-old student. The student was enrolled at Gananda High School.
The 17-year-old posed with what appeared to be an assault weapon, which caused concerns to district officials, who immediately contacted law enforcement.
Troopers and deputies responded to the school and met with officials and police.
The student was taken into custody off school grounds and was interviewed with a parent. The student was charged with making a terroristic threat, as a felony.
He was arraigned and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. Troopers did not identify the student.
However, they thanked school officials for quick action in notifying them about the threat.
Troopers called the incident isolated.
