How much does summer camp cost?
The cost of summer camp varies based on the experience and amenities provided. The average cost of summer camp is around $180 per day at a day camp and $450 for overnight camps. It is estimated that summer camp prices have risen 10%-15% since 2021. Read more about it here.
Summer camps may look expensive, but be sure to look into the experience that your child will get from it. Many summer camps offer early-bird discounts.
The American Camp Association (ACA) has a resource page to help parents figure out how to afford camp for their kids.
Keep in mind that you may be able to deduct summer camp expenses on your tax return. This is done through the Child and Care Dependent Tax Credit, but, overnight camps can’t be deducted.
How do I find a camp?
If you don’t know where to start looking for a summer camp or are looking for something specific, check out the ACA’s Find-A-Camp tool online.
The tool allows you to search their data base of over 4,000 camps, more than 13,000 programs, and 3,000 sessions. There is also an option to narrow the selection by location, interest, and price.
