Pre-Quarterfinals in Section V Class B2 began today, with the #7 Mynderse Academy Blue Devils hosting the #10 Midlakes Screaming Eagles. Midlakes, despite having to play on the road, was able to defeat Mynderse 5-2.
Midlakes was able to jump on the board in the top of the first inning with an RBI triple from John Deboover. The Screaming Eagles would score one more in the inning and lead 2-0 after 1 full inning. Mynderse would get on the scoreboard in the 3rd inning when starting pitcher Eric Guevara ripped an RBI single.
Eric Guevara would earn the other RBI for Mynderse, grounding into a force out in the 5th inning. John Deboover would tack on his second RBI with a double in the 6th. The other RBIs for Midlakes came from Michael Dehond, Holden Dorr, and Brady Day.
Nathan Laird pitched a complete game for the Screaming Eagles earning nine strikeouts. Guevara started for the Blue Devils, pitching two innings and striking out two. Morgen Major came in for relief of Guevara, pitching five innings and striking out seven.

Midlakes will take on #2 Le Roy on Wednesday. The first pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
