Yankees place Joey Gallo, Kyle Higashioka on COVID-19 injured list

The New York Yankees placed outfielder Joey Gallo and catcher Kyle Higashioka on the COVID-19 injured list before Sunday’s doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox at Yankee Stadium.

New York recalled reliever David McKay from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and signed veteran catcher Rob Brantly to a Major League contract and selected him to the 26-man roster from Triple-A.

The Yankees also transferred catcher Ben Rortvedt to the 60-day injured list.

Players that are placed on the COVID-19 injured list are considered day-to-day.
