The New York Yankees made a roster move before Saturday’s game against the Chicago White Sox at Yankee Stadium.
The team placed reliever Chad Green on the 15-day injured list with a right elbow strain and recalled reliever Ron Marinaccio from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Manager Aaron Boone spoke to the media Saturday morning and said that Green’s injury is “significant” and it could require surgery.
Green left Thursday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles with what was originally described as right forearm discomfort.
Over 14 appearances this season, Green has posted a 3.00 ERA over 15 innings to go along with 16 strikeouts.
Marinaccio has appeared in four games this season for the Yankees, allowing five earned runs over four innings.
