On Friday night at Frontier Field, the Rochester Red Wings fell to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 10-2.
Sterling Sharp made the start for Rochester and surrendered six runs (five earned) over four innings. Carson Teel allowed a run in relief while Andres Machado gave up three. Patrick Murphy and Reed Garrett had scoreless outings.
The offense could not generate enough offense to help out the pitching. Rochester’s runs came in the second inning when Lucius Fox blasted one over the wall in right-center for a two-run home run. The homer tied the game at two, but after that, it was all Lehigh Valley.
Fox had three of the Red Wings’ eight hits.
The two teams will continue the six-game series on Saturday night. The first pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
