Mets announce several roster moves

The New York Mets made several roster moves before Saturday’s doubleheader against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

Veteran right-hander Max Scherzer was officially placed on the 15-day injured list with an oblique strain and reliever Jake Reed was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse.

Outfielder Starling Marte was activated from the bereavement list and infielder Gosuke Katoh was optioned to Triple-A. Marte had been on the bereavement list since Monday.

Also, reliever Adonis Medina was recalled from Syracuse and will serve as the 27th man for the doubleheader. Medina will be available for both games.
