The Syracuse Mets were blanked by the Buffalo Bisons, 2-0, on Friday night at Sahlen Field in what was a fast-paced game.
Syracuse couldn’t generate any offense as they had just two singles and two walks.
Buffalo scored a run in the third on Eric Stamet’s solo home run and a run in the sixth on Jordan Groshan’s RBI single.
Thomas Szapucki opened the game for the Mets, going one inning and striking out. Félix Peña followed him in relief and allowed a pair of runs on five hits over 4.1 innings while striking out two. Locke St. John and Alex Claudio had scoreless outings.
The two teams will continue the six-game series on Saturday afternoon. The first pitch is slated for 1:05 p.m.
