A local man is facing charges following a robbery investigation that began earlier this month in the Town of Seneca Falls.

Dejon Butler, 23, was arrested on felony charges by the Seneca Falls Police Department on Tuesday, May 17 at approximately 3:36 p.m. Butler is accused of taking property from another local resident while in possession of a knife and striking the resident with the blunt end of the knife.

Butler faces the following charges: Robbery in the First Degree (Class B Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Class D Felony), Attempted Assault in the Second Degree (Class E Felony) and a misdemeanor charge of Petit Larceny.

The local resident was treated at a nearby medical facility for minor abrasions, said police in a release on Wednesday. The knife believed to be involved in this incident was recovered by town police after executing a search warrant with the help of the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police.

Butler is currently incarcerated at the Seneca County Correctional Facility. He was scheduled to be arraigned in Seneca County CAP Court on all charges Wednesday evening.
