The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the investigation of a structure fire in the town of Arcadia.
It happened around 12:40 a.m. on Thursday, according to a news release. Deputies responded to Route 31 for a structure fire.
Upon arrival, they found a person who had awoken at the motel to a fire. The male sustained burns to his torso and arms.
He was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The fire was put out before it spread to other parts of the structure. The cause of the fire is believed to be a cigarette.
Port Gibson firefighters, and EMS from Newark/Arcadia, Finger Lakes, Lyons, and Wayne County assisted.
