The Rochester Americans defeated the Utica Comets, 4-3, in overtime in Game 3 of the best-of-five North Division semifinal series on Sunday evening at the Blue Cross Arena. Rochester now leads the series 2-1 and is one win away from advancing to the third round for the first time since 2004.
Arttu Ruotsalainen netted the game-winning goal on the power play at 1:39. Sean Malone, Lukas Rousek, and Brandon Biro also netted goals while Aaron Dell turned aside 30-of-33 shots.
A.J. Greer, Fabian Zetterlund, and Aarne Talvitie tallied for Utica while Akira Schmid stopped 34-of-38 shots.
Rochester finished 1-for-2 on the power play and 1-for-2 on the penalty kill.
Game 4 is set for Tuesday at the Blue Cross Arena. The puck will drop at 7:05 p.m.
