State police in Auburn have arrested a juvenile following an assault investigation in the village of Meridian.
According to a news release, troopers were dispatched to an alleged assault around 10:42 p.m. on May 13.
The preliminary investigation revealed the victim, Sean R. Broadwell, age 23, was walking to his residence with his brother when a verbal argument ensued with a group of neighbor teens.
That’s when a 17-year-old from the group of teens, armed himself with a large knife and confronted the 23-year-old victim. During the ensuing physical altercation- Broadwell was struck with the knife- causing a large laceration.
He was transported to Upstate Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries, troopers said.
The 17-year-old, who was not identified, was charged with second-degree assault as a felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Troopers say the suspect was arraigned in Youth Court and released to his mother.
