Syracuse Mets shut out SWB RailRiders for third straight win

The Syracuse Mets shut out the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, 3-0, on Friday night at PNC Field.

Syracuse has now blanked Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in back-to-back games.

David Peterson got the start for the Mets and tossed six scorless innings. Felix Pena and Alex Claudio combined for three shutout innings in relief.


Syracuse scored two of their three runs in the first. Johneshwy Fargas crushed his first home run of the season over the wall in left-center and Travis Blankenhorn drove in a run with an RBI single to center.

Quinn Brodey capped off the scoring in the game with a solo shot to left-center in the eighth.

Blankenhorn had two of Syracuse’s five hits.

The two teams will continue the six-game series on Saturday. The first pitch is slated for 4:05 p.m.
