Who is eligible?
In Maine, more than half of the state budget surplus is going back to residents as direct payments. In order to receive the funds, your 2021 state taxes will need to be filed by October 31, 2022. Find additional details here.
If you are a full-time Maine resident had have filed your 2021 state tax return you are eligible for $850 as long as:
- single filers have a adjusted gross income (AGI) less than $100,00
- head of household have an AGI under $150,000
- couples filing jointly have an AGI less than $200,000
When will payments be distributed?
The checks will be mailed out the first week of June 2022. After that, they will be sent out on a rolling basis through the end of the year as tax returns are received.
Payments will be sent out via USPS to the address on your 2021 Maine tax return.
