Mets place catcher James McCann on injured list with fractured left hamate

The New York Mets will be without starting catcher James McCann for the foreseeable future.

The team announced that McCann is expected to miss about six weeks after X-rays showed a fracture of the hamate bone in his left hand.

Catcher Patrick Mazeika was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse with McCann on the 10-day injured list.

McCann is hitting .196/.266/.286 through 21 games in the second season of a four-year deal with the Mets.
