Police are investigating a serious assault that occurred at a hotel in the town of Bath.
Around 8:45 p.m. troopers responded to an assault at the Holland American Hotel on Route 415.
When troopers arrived- they found that a 33-year-old, identified as Jonathan Ruggles, had been assaulted by 41-year-old Jose Valez.
Both were residents of that location, according to troopers.
Ruggles was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Troopers conferred with the Steuben County District Attorney’s Office, who are pursuing extensive charges.
So far, Velez has been charged with first-degree burglary and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon due to a previous conviction.
According to troopers, additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
