Williamson grad scores dream job with New York Yankees

A former Williamson High School student will join the New York Yankees as a quantitative analysis associate after graduating from Syracuse University this May.

Mackenzie Mangos is a sports analytics major in the Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics and founder of the school’s Sports Analytics Women Club. Upon graduation, she will assume the role of quantitative analysis associate in the baseball operations department of the New York Yankees.

“I figured I’d work for some business or consultant before even getting a job in baseball—let alone in player analytics with the Yankees,” said Mangos, according to Wayne Times. “It worked out great!”

Mangos played three sports during her time at Williamson High School. She was captain of the women’s varsity soccer, basketball and softball teams.

Currently, Mangos is wrapping up her college senior thesis project. After that, she’ll head to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

“It still feels pretty surreal,” she said. “I don’t think it’ll hit me until I show up on my first day.”
