WARMING UP: Dry conditions advance, temperatures push into the 80s by late-week

Here comes spring! The Finger Lakes region will experience its warmest week of 2022 as high pressure dominates the forecast.

Storm Trackers Team Forecaster Bill Boggess says anyone who picked this week for a little location vacation struck gold- because temperatures will rise into the 70s and even flirt with the 80s by the weekend.

When is the next chance for rain?

Not until the weekend. Boggess says it will be a pleasant week for outdoor activity. Even if you’re headed to one of the region’s lakes- conditions will be ideal.

Warming daytime highs, no rain in the forecast, and light winds.

The warm-up will happen a little more slowly along Lake Ontario, where temperatures will stay 5-10 degrees cooler each day. ‘

That’s typical of this time of year, though. Those locations, mostly north of the Route 104 corridor- will see highs top out in the low 70s by week’s end.

It’s dry! Don’t burn anything.

The New York State Burn Ban remains in effect through May 14.

Caution is advised on anything other than small recreational fires.
