The New York Yankees made some roster moves before Sunday’s doubleheader against the Texas Rangers.
The team placed outfielder Tim Locastro on the 10-day injured list with a left latissimus dorsi strain and recalled reliever Ron Marinaccio from the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
Locastro has started a few games for the Yankees this season but has mainly been used as a pinch-runner or a late defensive replacement. Aaron Boone spoke to the media before Game 1 of the doubleheader and said he expects Locastro to miss “at least a couple of weeks.”
Marinaccio made his Major League debut earlier this season but struggled with his command and was the odd-man-out when the rosters needed to be trimmed from 28 to 26 at the beginning of May.
Estevan Florial was recalled from Triple-A Scranton and he will serve as the 27th man for the doubleheader.
